soooooo weird.
I don't really have time to write a huge blog entry tonight because I need to get some sleep before tomorrow's run, so I thought I'd give you some priceless youtube clips for all the insomniacs out there.
These clips are from this weird 1980's Public Access variety show called Stairway to Stardom. These are some of the funniest, if not just plain weirdest videos I have ever seen.
they're hysterical check 'em out.
Crazy Songwriter Mullet Lady singing a song called "Hairdresser, Hairdresser"
Nasty teeth unitard dancer girl
Angsty black woman doing monologue about a radiator
Effing craziest person I have ever seen
and lastly one I found on my own
Best worst competition dance costume I've ever seen girl
Much credit to dustin who sent me these. Sadly, I didn't find them on my own.
good night,

'hearsal!
So at rehearsal today we added 3 new cast members, Mitch, Barfee and Marcy. I'm happy to report that they are all incredibly nice. All of them have been in previous productions, the new york, the chicago company and the tour in that very order. I am also happy to report that they're all FIERCE. I even got the holy ghost today when Kevin, the guy playing our mitch, sang "Prayer for the comfort counselor." He optioned the s*** out of it and riffed it a new a-hole. It was a good rehearsal. I finally started feeling a little less "OH-MY-GOD-WHAT-THE-EFF-AM-I-DOING??" and a little more "WHAT-AM-I-DOING?!" I'm really surprised at how freaking fast we've been working. It's kind of thrilling but takes a lot of thinking on your feet.
Tonight, aside from packing for Sunday (AHHH can't believe I'm leaving in 5 days!) I watched the documentary STAGEDOOR, about the prolific gay theatre camp Stagedoor Manor. It was a riot! It made me think back to those amazing Interlochen days where everything meant so much and Musical Theatre was the only thing in the world. My jaw was on the floor for the majority of the movie, for two reasons. First, at how fierce some of these little kids were. And also for how hilariously edited it was. It made these kids look like little monsters. It
My favorite clip was in an acting class where the teacher announced at the beginning of the session that he only had room for 15 kids, and someone in the class had to be kicked out of the class. He asked all the kids to go around in a circle and say the person they thought didn't deserve to be in the highest master acting class on camp. I peed my pants at some of the footage they got. It starts out with this kid saying "I think, um, what's your name again? Muriel? yeah you deserve to be kicked out because in the whole week here you have made no impression...at all." and other kids were like, "I think he doesn't deserve to be here because blah blah blah." Although I did love the moment where some girl said "I would vote out Etai BenShlomo because he is already a master actor and he is too good for this class." F.Y.I. Etai BenShlomo is a junior at the Umich MT department and an awesome guy. GO BLUE! Way to be popular! WOOO HOOO!

Now I'm with Dani and Jake, formerly Danijake (MTM NE1?) and we're deciding what to film for the next video Blog. We need a real Bing Bang Hit that's gonna get some youtube attention. hahaha. Any and all suggestions welcome.
Also, jake asked me to post this. I'm not sure if anyone's seen this video but it was the original video that inspired me to make video blogs. It was just my friends on the train when some crazy man and his Iguana attacked us. We caught it on tape and made it into a low-budget blog.
Well that's all for now.

Lunch and Rehearsal
So I just got done having a lazy monday morning brunch with Jake & Corns. I'm celebrating my last day off for the next 14 days...AHHHH!!!!

It was great and now Corns (cortney wolfson for those of ya'll not in the know) and I are laying on her bed doing nothing because her cable isn't hooked up until tomorrow.
Oh so MAJOR updates.
I started rehearsal for SPELLING BEE a couple of days ago. My head is so freaking full of blocking/lines/music that I may actually have an aneurism. I cannot believe how fast paced we have been going. In two days we have completely finished the entire show. The first day we fully staged and choreographed the opening through "I'm Not That Smart." So basically, my whoe track. We got to the "do, do do do do doo do doodle" part of it and our resident director Darren (who I'm obsessed with he's so cool), was like so yeah, just fill that whole section with something. Just play around a little bit...AHHH!!! So not only was it my first day and I had never sung the song in front of anyone before, but i had to come up with random autistic choices to fill 32-bars of "do-doo's"
Something that I get a little giggle about is that the girl playing Olive (who's new to the company) is like the hottest thing ever. Her name's Vanessa Ray and she's adorable in the part. But I can't help thinking that for a 12-year-old she is verrrrrry cute. Think a mixture between Helene Yorke and Kate Rockwell. (For the thirteen people out there who got that reference and were like "Hmmm...okay," I love you) But anyway, as far as rehearsal has gone it's been a little stressful cramming this much in my brain, but luckily the people I'm working with (creative and cast) are irregularly nice people considering how high the stakes are...we only have 5 more days.
AHHHH!!! Also my hair is bright red but I've refused to release any pics of vids of it b/c I'm too scared.
all for now peeps.

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL/THINGS TO RUIN
So this is just a short post. But in the past couple of days I was lucky enough to see two true works of art. Well, works at least. First of HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2 was hysterical. I loved how huge of a part Ryan had in this movie, but was absolutely baffled-slash-tickled at the fact that they turned Gabriella & Ryan's relationship into not only a heterosexual romance, but the central conflict of the movie. I just about peed when Troy walked in and saw the two of them together and was stricken with jealousy. Uhmm, bitch...how do I put this delicately...he's a gay.
I thought the movie was pretty well produced. It looked like someone just threw money at it. There were some for real awkward moments where they would break into song and some baaad lip-synching, but mostly I was just excited to watch it. Plus, I'm not gonna say who but one of the people I was watching it with kept rewinding that part where Zac Efron stands up in the pool and flexes his abs...hmmmmm....
Secondly, I got to see MKC in the Joe Iconis concert at Joe's Pub. It was AMAAAZZZING. I'll save some reviews for Video Blog 4 which is already in the works. There's some major coverage of the event including more high screaming and riffing than ever before seen on a public stage.
All for now peeps. I'm not actually gonna bother proof reading this so if something doesn't make sense....i'm sorry.

Hairspray
Word. I just saw the HAIRSPRAY movie. FINALLLYYYY! Jeez, why do I always feel like I'm the last one to catch on to all of these trends. I mean, I NEVER watched an episode of THE OFFICE until like last week, I didn't go buy the new HARRY POTTER book I mean, I already heard from a lady on the subway that Ron dies and Hermione feasts on his sex organs as a part of some Wicca spell, why do I need to read the book), and I didn't see the HAIRSPRAY movie until today.
I thought it was amazing! Especially the kid who plays Seaweed. Dude his riffing was out of control. I truly had no qualms with the film. Everyone was telling me I wouldn't like John and Amanda but I actually really did.
Okay, time is of the essence. All for now. Jake, MKC and I are trying to finish up the theme song editing so we can post Video Blog 1 soon.

sick and funny
OK. At running the risk of being incredibly offensive I am going to post this video on the blog. I know putting up a ton of videos makes me seem like a youtube whore, not a blogger, but this video is unmissable (immissable?! nonmissable? demissable?! anti-missable!?)
I really REALLY apologize if this is sooo offensive, but I figured if even a few of you are as sick as me you'll appreciate this.
This is a production of THE MIRACLE WORKER. Please watch the Helen Keller very closely for some tricky tricks.

So it is with deep sorrow that I must impart unto you the final chapter of my Video Blog up at North Shore. This summer was certainly one of the best of my life. I'll totally miss North Shore and Beverly.
I did want to thank all of you for being avid blog viewers, because it has inspired me to keep writing a blog.
The address for my new blog is
www.keenanblogger.blogspot.com
Please come and visit. This is in no way affiliated with North Shore Music Theatre, it's just me ranting about my life in New York and on tour. It's content can not be attributed to NSMT in any way unless they wanna hire me back soon!!!
Thanks for this experience,
