Andrew's Blog is going HIGH DEFINITION

It's true. My old trusty handy cam is officially broken and when I took it in to get fixed, the estimate that they gave me was more than the darn thing was even worth. So, in a moment of weakness, I may or may not have maxed out my credit card on like the fiercest video camera ever.

Here's a sample of a short clip made on the exact camera that I just bought. Pimp right? It looks like old Andrew's Blog is gonna start looking like Laguna Beach. Day 2 of Andrew's Rosie blog should be done either today or tomorrow.

Back on Dry Land

Hey dudes,
I am sadly back in the states and off the amazing Rosie Cruise. It was truly a life changing week. I met some amazing people, saw some ridiculous concerts, ate way too much free food and got pretty freaking tan. One concert that was definitely a highlight was Shoshana Bean at the piano bar. She did this hilarious medley of songs that she'd always wanted to sing but never could. I'm pretty sure the lead in line for this song was "It wasn't until my bat mitzvah that I realized that I WASN'T in fact black." Sorry for the poor vid quality, it was supes dark in the space. But it's not like you need much light to enjoy some Shosh.

I honestly have HOURS of blog footage that I'm piecing together right now. You can expect about 3 or 4 blogs out of them. The first one should be going up as soon as tonight.

Andrew's Understudy Blog

Hey guys,
I don't really have time to do a big update but I HAD to find a computer on the ship and post this because it is possibly the best thing I've ever seen. JJB who is one of our swings surprised me last week with this blog. It's a video blog that he and the cast had secretly been making for the past 3 weeks without my knowing. It chronicles his first time going on as Coneybear on tour and I'm not kidding, you will pee your pants! It's BRILLIANT!

BTW, the cruise is literally a paradise. I'm having so much fun, it's a joke.

GOD SPEED!

So the day has finally arrived. I will be departing on the Rosie Cruise tomorrow morning!!! Never you worry, I will definitely be blogging like it's my job. Hopefully if there's wireless I'll even be able to drop a vlog while I'm still on the ship. Wish me safe travels!

Awesome Vid

Two of my favorite people in the world, Joe Drymala & Ryan Davis, have been working on this really edgy musical called STREET LIGHTS, which is an urban hip-hop/pop musical about "inner-city high school kids trying to make sense of the rough world they’ve grown up in." It's got a sound that's like nothing you've ever heard onstage before. Check out their myspace for some hot demo song clips. Yes, Natalie Weiss DOES sing a song on it ;)

But first, be sure to check out this awesome new youtube vid. This music video is a remix version of one of STREET LIGHT'S anthems, "Miracle." It mixes my two favorite things in life, hot R&B singing with Barack Obama. I'm hoping this video gets huge. Keep a look out for a few Andrew's Blog regulars; Kevin Curtis (HSM @ North Shore) and Andrew Arrington (Umich '08) both sounding really hot.

Addictive New Youtube Series (With MK-B)!!!

So I am very, very proud to plug an exciting new project that just debuted on youtube tonight. THE GIFTED GIRLS is a new brain child of 4th MEAL PRODUCTIONS, a fantastic non-profit theatre company (created by, among others, Maggie Keenan-Bolger!) THE GIFTED GIRLS documents four high school girls who unflinchingly think they possess telepathic powers. It's totally like if they took that amazingly campy movie THE CRAFT with Neve Campbell, mixed it with WAITING FOR GUFFMAN and featuring a little Keenan-Bolger girl as an emotionally unstable, lesbian, self-proclaimed telekinetic...Awww just watch it!

Check out 4th MEAL PRODUCTIONS for more fun stuff and info. They are constantly pushing the envelope by producing daring original works. Their newest show BOUND SHADOW opens next week and I'm very excited to catch it in NY the day I get back from the R Cruise. Also their next project this summer is a full scale production of the riveting docu-drama FROM THE INSIDE OUT, written by none other than Maggie Keenan-Bolger.

filed under: CAMP CAMP CAMP

Who didn't think a show choir medley of XANADU would be a great idea?! This vintage gem of a video has better 'ography and special FX than any showchoir should ever have access to. And of course, Soloist Girl #1 For The Win. That's right, it's a young Cortney Wolfson and I am 100% positive that she's wearing a crimped weave. This is where Camp pitches a tent.

love it,

Hilarious Game

So, I totally stole this from a new blog that I'm obsessed with called Broadway Dish. But, apparently it's a game that has been passed down, so I don't feel too bad using it on the blog.
Here's how you play. From the moment that Bernadette Peters goes into the refrain of the song (not that ad-liby verse part) keep tapping the down beat of the music with your hand or foot or something. Now DON'T STOP keeping time. No matter whether she's 8 bars behind, just keep tappin that foot. It's hilarious! I mean this is the most serious back-phrasing I have ever heard in my life.

brills,
