GIRL ROBOT released a sweet new music video chapter in her saga entitled "Aluminasty." This one's pretty hot, not to mention keep an eye out for my man Dave Hull (Umich class of '07). He's the backup dancer in the red hat who is giving it.

Winner of the video that I've watched the most this week
The ferocious Helene Yorke sings "Not Her Way" from TALES FROM THE BAD YEARS by Kerrigan/Lowdermilk. First off, the song--amazing. Like, such a great story song with subtext for days. Also, Helene is one of those performers that no matter what she's singing, I am always sitting on the edge of my chair. There's an almost dangerous quality to her. Especially because she looks so commercially beautiful on the outside, it's thrilling to see such a fire on the inside. When thinking of other people who have that same quality, Alice Ripley comes to mind. I mean, even while standing at a mic stand, reading from a score she's giving you drama.

New Andrew's Blog Tonight!
filed under: CAMPY!!!
Hopefully this will delight at least a couple thirteen-year-old girl fans out there. It's Jake Wilson & I singing "S.O.S." by the Jonas Brothers with Saum Eskandani. This was a part of the Kids Broadway Belters concert on the Rosie Cruise this past July. Campy for sure.

Craig Steven's STREET LIGHTS Blog
Effing hilarious! It was a fantastic concert and I was so glad Craig & Janine documented it. Oh, and just for the record, I didn't vote in the primary because Michigan, the state I'm registered in, canceled their democratic primary because they pushed the date earlier so Hilary was the only one campaigning. But I'm clearly voting in my swing home state in November and you should too!!

Wanna Be in a Music Video?
Hey guys, I'm currently filming a music video for a song from the new show STREET LIGHTS, a hip/hop musical about "inner-city high school kids trying to make sense of the rough world they've grown up in." It features one of the most ambitious new scores I've heard in a long time. It's truly unlike anything the musical theatre world has heard before. The video will be featured on Broadway World TV (www.broadwayworld.com) later this month, as well as on UrInTown of course :)
Okay, here's where you guys come in. Next Monday, August 11th, I'm filming a really important section of the video where a group of young people, leave their static, numb lives and take to the streets, joining together to wake up the generation through their music. I'd LOVE if I could get a ton of you guys to be in the video.
So if you look somewhat young and live in the New York City area and would be available/interested in helping me out/lending your fresh face to make a pretty sweet looking video, please hit me up at
wannabeinavideo@yahoo.com
Make sure to include in the e-mail your name and also when you're available on Monday. I'll come up with a time and exact location (it will be somewhere in Central Park) that will work for the most amount of people.
Please don't be shy!! It's a lot of fun and a great way to get some on camera experience and to meet some pretty cool people. Also bring a TON of your friends, these things are more fun when you've got some buddies!

(a shot from a part of the video that's already been filmed)

FLIRT: With Haviland Stillwell on the 'R Family Cruise'
Guys, you MUST check this out if you haven't already. One of my good friends Haviland Stillwell (Les Miz & Fiddler on Bway, also "Ellen" the hottest lesbian in the world on the most recent episode of THE BATTERY'S DOWN, also "Muffin" from the VOTE! blog ) was on the Rosie Cruise this summer and filmed an online TV show for BroadwayWorld. It looks unbelievable and I'm so thrilled for her!!! Definitely watch it and get ready for a bunch of familiar faces from both Broadway stars, and maybe even a few familiar Umichers (Jake, Corns & Me)!
