This is beyond crazy and stupid. How can youtube feature you one day and delete you the next.

That's insane!! What about Colbert's parody or FunnyorDie.com?? You definitely should fight it...that's ridiculous. NOM must have youtube insiders!

No. No they didn't.

Seriously, NOM people??? Did you really need to give us another reason to hate you???

Seems like there's hope though...check this out: http://hubpages.com/hub/Restore-A-YouTube-Account-That-Has-Been-Suspended

BUT you should not have to delete your Gathering Storm spoof. There must be an attorney amongst your fans who can tell us what's going on. Boo, NOM, boo!!!

I'm sorry I don't know how to help...I'm guessing some idiot was offended by your spoof and reported you. I really don't understand how that spoof would be illegal at all, but whatever. Are all your videos lost forever? I really hope not. PLEASE fight to get your account back. This is just ridiculous.

Don't worry. We will do something about this.

If all else fails, we'll start a petition!

Or march on Washington!

Whichevs.

hey akb,

i noticed that the video had been removed due to copyright infringement which i too found odd given that i couldnt remember anything in it that would have been a problem to viacom. so i checked to see if other spoofs were disabled as well and i couldnt find any that had been. this is very odd.

i'm in law school, not yet a lawyer by any means but this seems very strange. you should definitely fight this. your account has a lot of fans and it would be a shame for it to be disabled for good. someone must have reported it wrongfully and it was pulled without checking to see if it actually contained any illegal content. that is my best guess.

hope this gets resolved soon!

Maybe someone reported just to be a jerk and, since the thumbnail of your vid looks like the actual ad, it was pulled without checking the content. Try to look in to the logistics! Hope this all gets sorted out!!

Andrew,
I am sorry that you have now had experience with hate. Please fight back, hard as you can, long as you can.
Tell youtube that this was original work made by you and that it is only a parody of the original.
Read up on what to do at the "Chilling Effects Clearinghouse" which is located here:
http://www.chillingeffects.org/

Unfortunately I don't know any lawyers who specialize in this area.

All my best to you!

I don't think it's permanently gone because when you search Urintown it says "suspended".

You should talk to Lambda Legal. They specialize in helping folks who have been discriminated against. And if someone felt that your Gathering the Storm was "offensive" it might be right up their alley. If you need more info on them feel free to comment and I can email you info!

oh wow this is crazy. Andrew, as soon as you figure out what to do let us know! We support you and if you need us to flood youtube with emails and complaints, we will!

Too long have we stood idly as a chorus of critics have belittled the notion of human rights. If people seriously think that shutting down a musical theatre video resource will quiet the voices of millions who believe in justice and equality, they have greatly underestimated our capability. If anything, their resort to stopping a youtube account shows how little resources they have in getting their message out.

WE WILL AVENGE THIS INJUSTICE.

I can't remember quite how similar it is, but I think that it can be considered a parody which should allow it to be posted.

It's also really low of them to eliminate your account without a warning of some sort or a request to just take the video down.

I'm going to do the best I can to check this out, as that video was certainly original material...

Youtube should have additional information on what exactly in the video violates Viacom's copyright, and contact info for Viacom so that you can contact them directly.

It's not like Viacom owned the copyright on the original video, plus it was a parody, which is fair use.

UGH!!!! What am I going to watch now when I get high and need some good campy music theatre to help me peak?!
