Hey guys, so I've gotten a lot of messages on youtube wondering what happened to the Welcome to my Home Blog. I had it on private for a long time, but am now re-releasing some of the old footage from it in a mini series that I like to call Inside the Andrew's Blog Vault. Ooo tricky! What a great way for me to keep making new blogs without actually having to film anything new, right? Well never fear, I'm gearing up to start some MARY POPPINS blogging once the craziness of Tech starts wearing off.

The Rockstar formerly known as Olive Ostrovsky
I'm sorry, I just randomly happened to type in my bestie Vanessa Ray's name on youtube and found this delicious gem. It's her WAILING on a song from LOVE, NY, a musical by by Robert Rokicki (Umich grad!) and Michael Ruby. Um, for anyone who's only heard her sing the lovely mixy score of SPELLING BEE or one of those sweet quirky tunes that I put up of her on youtube, get the eff ready! Vanessa, you are such a rock star!

Woman's Weave Stops a SPEEDING BULLET!?!?
Thanks Dana for this campy gem! How you know my taste in videos. To think, a little over a year we were traipsing across the stages of the Jackson and now there are weaves stopping bullets in the same city. Fair enough.

Andrew's Blog (The GRINCH One)...Again!
The way that the GRINCH blog got uploaded to youtube always irked me. Even though I uploaded it at HD quality, youtube for some reason converted it weirdly and stretched it out and made it play at a lower quality. So when the song "River" that I literally played 2 bars of in the credits got matched by a third party, it was a great excuse to re-upload at the beautiful quality it was intended to be seen. Here's the new and improved GRINCH blog.

UGH!!
Is there a word to describe something that is both insanely amazing and campy at the same time? I guess thatmaybe what the word "rich" sometimes does justice, but really only when screamed...like, "UGH! RRIIICH!" In a hilarious/brilliant pairing that I assumed would only happen in the fantasies of my bedroom, Scott Alan has matched up the vocals of Allie Trimm (that ridiculous 13-year-old who totally stole the musical 13 with her insane healthy belting and star quality) with Carrie Manolakos (true diva and Elphaba cover on the new All-Star WICKED tour) and given them the chance to try and out belt each other on his power-mixy standard. I honestly laughed out loud and got chills at the same time watching this clip. RIICHH job Scott Alan and amazing belty ladies!

THE BATTERY'S DOWN sneak peak
So filming for the new season of TBD is underway and photographer/dancer/blogger extraordinaire Matthew Murphy was on hand to capture a bit of the magic from on of the production numbers. Check out a few of these awesome shots. Is your mouth watering for some rich TBD goodness yet? Well you'll have to wait until April 1st, but after seeing some of these, I think it's gonna be worth the wait.

My favorite voice
Now I know I champion a lot of girl's voices and proclaim that they have "like the best voice I've ever heard." But honestly, if I had to choose only one to listen to for the rest of my life, it would be Chelsea Krombach's. I've had a love affair with her voice since I first heard it my freshman year at Michigan. I would sneakily bootleg everything she would perform during the 2 years that we were at school together, even to the point of recording her through the door at auditions. She has the most velvety smooth voice ever and is also one of the smartest, best musicians I've ever met. The way she is able to interpret songs both musically and lyrically always amazes me, so you bet I just about peed my pants when I stumbled across this clip on youtube last week. I've maybe listened to it 20 times. For any of you NYers, you can catch her over at WICKED where she performs daily in addition to being the Elphaba cover. I still haven't seen her go on, and am so jealous of anyone who has.

Conversations With My Scooter
It was almost exactly a year ago that Vanessa & I ordered a pair of scooters from target.com when we were doing SPELLING BEE. I'd like to think of this video as a final homage to the tour and the many great cities we visited on it. It's already got three honors on youtube because it's under Travel & Events, so be sure to favorite & rate it here. Without too much competition in that genre, maybe we'll get a nice featured :D

You are not even going to be believe this...but

Remember that old "Conversations With My Scooter" trailer that Vanessa & I made?
Remember how much fun it looked?
Remember when it was supposed to come out in Summer of 2008?
Well, we never truly finished it, and with me gone on the POPPINS tour for a year, we probably missed our chance to truly finish it. But what we do have is a ton of awesome footage that was just short of making a great short film.
So being the bored little AKB that I am, I have finally edited together all of our footage and am releasing the short-short tonight!!
It's true guys, "Conversations With My Scooter" will finally be on youtube. So keep checking back!
Everyone loves a good poll!
Well, I was bored and instead of checking youtube stats, I figured I'd try to find out what the keenan-blogger's actually thought. You can vote once a day for your favorite. I haven't decided what I'm trying to actually find out from this but darn it was fun to re-watch some old episodes and make this poll for which you have to scroll down a little to see. Um also, anyone who's good at html, if you can tell me why embedding this made a huge white gap on this post I will totes love you for ever.

From the Andrew's Blog Vault
Hey guys, so this video got removed from youtube. Turns out I don't own the copyright to Regina Spektor's "Summer in the City." I somehow thought because I used to listen to her in college before she got signed and was only a myspace star that I wouldn't get busted for using her lovely songs, but that's apparently not the case. hehe :-/ Anyway, here's a brand new remastered, slightly edited re-release of "Andrew's Blog (The one that's shot like a movie)." An old chestnut that I hated to have completely disappear from interweb history.
Well Thanks PLAYBILL

Whoa, I apparently have a big enough part to be in the title of the article?! Not bad considering I only have one line in ACT II :D But seriously, any Chicago-area people, get your tickets in advance. It's the hot ticket in town right now and is gearing up to be one fantastic production. I'm having the time of my life rehearsing such a fun role and my jaw is on the floor by the incredible level of talent and creativity surrounding me.

New youtube sensation
What a find! At 18 years old, Kayleigh Erickson is an amazing new youtube discovery. A gorgeous tone matched with one of the most flexible, clean voices I've heard in a long time, she will no doubt develop the cult like following she deserves. I found it utterly charming that she also thanks Natalie Weiss as an influence. Kayleigh's sweet, honest face paired with her crazy Shoshana/Lauryn Hill style riffs make her one of my new favorites. No doubt her vocal gymnastics are enough to draw you in, but if you doubt her ability to pull off just singing the line of a song, listen to her simple and effortless "I'm Not Afraid of Anything." Especially as an emerging youtube artist, you should totally check out her youtube page and subscribe to her videos. Thanks Jake for the tip!

TBD Curtis Brown Photoshoot
Um, I somehow missed this! I was just going through my old e-mail today and found the link for this in an unread message. So cool! It's a video of the amazing Curtis Brown photoshoot that he did for THE BATTERY'S DOWN Season 2. If for no other reason to watch it, you can catch Jake in his undies.
