Torture Memos--The Prequel

Hey guys! Here's the new video my cast made satirizing Jay Bybee and the infamous "torture memos." With the memos being at the epicenter of every news source for the past couple of weeks there's been a ton of videos made in response, but we think we're the unlikely first to try and bring humor to them. Our video imagines what it would be like if the same legal loopholes taken to justify torture were applied to every day law.

I just watched this video 10 times.

This is one of the most creative videos I've seen in so long. It appeared on my girl Rachel Maddow's show last night. These guys basically auto-tuned all these news segments to sound like a Kayne song. I'm so obsessed.

Jake sings a truly campy tune cut from NEXT TO NORMAL at SUNDAY NiGTH LiVE at Joe's Pub. This song was actually in the show when I saw it and while kind of brilliant, I was so so incredibly confused.

I'm Baa-aack!

Today I received a letter from Viacom revoking the take down of my video "Gathering Storm Spoof," and the reinstating of my account. After many e-mails sent to their copyright team and counter notice group, they admitted their mistake and have issued a retraction of the claim against me. The explanation they gave me was "We thought your video was a segment from the Colbert Report." I'm not sure if that's more of a testament to our professional film making or to the incompetence of the person issuing the takedowns that day :D I'm fairly certain that whoever decided my video was infringing did not so much as even click on my video before deciding the fate of my entire account. Had they even done that they would have at least been able to notice that our video was posted nearly a week before Stephen Colbert even spoofed it on his show. hmmm..
I'm so glad to have my account back, but one thing that is really annoying is that if you've ever favorited one of my videos, they've been forever erased from your favorites. So basically the even though "Blue Hair" hair had been favorite by almost 3,000 people, it is now down to ZERO favorites. Wahwahh. I'm at least thankful that I can see some of these videos again. I thought they were lost forever.
Here's a vid I made right after I read the e-mail. It's kind of dramatic because I was in a mixed flurry of anger towards the incompetence of someone at Viacom-slash-overjoyed by getting my account back!

OMG Just Peed My Pants!!

Randy and Tim, the writers/creators of PEREZ HILTON SAVES THE UNIVERSE just made an effing HI-LARIOUS video commemorating UrInTown and auctioning off stuff I've touched to raise money for my legal fees. I have never felt more truly honored in my entire life!

Status Update about UrInTown

Hey guys,
So after a pretty restless night, I've come to some level of sanity in dealing with my youtube account being deleted. I've contacted Viacom (the company alleging that my Gathering Storm Spoof violated copyright) and asked them to retract the counter notice against my video as it was something created by myself. If that doesn't follow through, I've spoken to a few lawyers who are ready to file a counter notification against Viacom to get my account and my videos restored. Of course, I have no guarantees of ever getting UrInTown back, so in the meantime I need to do some damage control. I've created a new account on youtube called KeenanBlogger. I've begun to upload whatever I have to the account. Sadly, more than half of the videos I put up on youtube are forever lost. If you have for some lucky reason ripped any of my videos over the years, especially the U of M performance ones, please email me at andrewkeenanbolger@yahoo.com and I'll let you know if it's one of the videos that I don't have. If any of your friends or family have watched the UrInTown videos, pass them on the new channel. There's gonna be no way to gain back all 5,000+ subscribers that I've lost, but I can hope. In the meantime, now would be a great time to catch up on old Andrew's Blogs that you may have not seen. I luckily saved about 90% of them and a few are already up with more on the way. I thank you guys so much for your kind words and advice and your continued support of my random video projects.

Freaking Out!

Uhm When I try to sign into the UrInTown account it says this

I got an e-mail saying my youtube account just got permanently deleted because of Copyright Infringement in my "Gathering Storm" video. It was all my original material and I don't know how to fight it or what to do?!!? Can anyone PLEASE help me???
Does anyone know a lawyer?

Time to face the facts folks. It's been too long since comedian/MT diva Leslie Kritzer has made a video. Luckily this evening when I logged into my youtube account, I was welcomed with this delicious treat. This time posing as three hilarious characters (including past faves Riff-tina & Grampa Scralph), Kritzer takes on businessman/investment criminal Bernie Madoff in a series of wacky sketches and interviews. It seriously makes me sad to even watch SNL these days without her on it. I'm all for starting a viral campaign to get this girl on Primetime. Anyone with me?

My castmate Clark Johnsen and I are outraged by the Gathering Storm commercial. His brother wrote a a parody of the commercial and Clark & I decided to direct our own version on the anti-gay ad. Here it is! We'd love nothing more than for this video to become viral and possibly be seen by any of the original blacklisted actors and filmmakers who worked on the original commercial, not to mention anyone apart of the National Organization of Marriage, so please spread it to your friends and family & favorite and rate it!

Have you guys seen this new commercial?

In the light of such huge victories for gay couples in Vermont, Iowa & D.C. there's a group out there using old school scare tactics to mass produce hatred and intolerance under the ironically named "Rainbow Coalition." The National Organization for Marriage has recently released a commercial displaying the threats that gay marriage is posing to society. I'm not sure if it's because I grew up in a very progressive environment and have surrounded myself with people who seem to want fundamental rights for all, but I was shocked and outraged by this commercial.

Besides being riddled with inaccuracies (i.e. The Doctor claiming that they are forced to choose between their faith and their job. Um, what is gay marriage forcing them to do? Perform abortions? Besides, isn't this exactly the type of integrity that Doctors have promised to uphold?--to treat all patients regardless of their color, creed or beliefs?) it also antagonizes a social group in order to instill fear in a community. If it weren't so shockingly relevant, this commercial would almost be considered campy in the horrific way it depicts gays. A gathering storm? Dark clouds? Lock up your children folks, the gays are coming to get you!!

In a recent segment, Rachel Maddow not only takes on the National Organization for Marriage but also got her hands on some of the hilarious audition tapes for the commercial. RICH!

NAKED BROTHERS BAND: The Premier Episode

Um. is she KIDDING!?!

What?!?! How have I never heard of this girl?! She is a senior at Belmont University and her name is Maria Logan. Is she JOKING with that voice!? She does a beautifully acted and perfectly sung homage to Shosh and Aretha in her version of "Ain't No Way." She's got a gorgeous tone and does unbelievably musical and clean licks. Maria, if you're reading this, best of luck with showcase and I'm sure we'll be seeing you doing some cool stuff in NY soon. Thanks Andy for the tip!

Gulp. I am speechless. How did none of my friends get submitted for this movie?! This is going to be the richest thing since I KNOW WHO KILLED ME. I'm totally proud to announce that today my youtube account got its 5,000th subscriber. That's huge you guys! I'm truly so thankful that there's ANY person out there, no less 5,000 of you guys, to be interested enough to follow my friend's and my random online endeavors. Honestly, when we were sophomores at Michigan we just started putting up videos so our friends and family would be able to see what we were doing at school. We never expected the enormous support that the rest of the world would have in or fun little videos. Anyways, thanks for tuning in and I look forward to bringing you even more interweb shenanigans in the upcoming year!
